long time no blog

So its been like a week since I last blogged. I don't know what it was, I just really really didn't feel like writing anything. But now I'm back. How bout a review of this week in sports.

Notre Dame finally won a bowl game!
They beat good ole Hawaii 49-21. Their last bowl win was in 1994 (1993 season) againts Texas A&M. Well good for you fighting Irish. Charlie, maybe this will help your job status for one or two more seasons.

Boise St lost to TCU in the Poinsettia bowl Tuesday night ruining their undefeated season.
I have to say, this made me really sad. I know I know what you're thinking."Boise St is in a Wack conference. Literally the WAC is terrible. Boise deserves to lose, get over it". Well I'm sorry, I love cheerin for the underdog! And I love B-St's blue-collar story. I am not however, belittling the talent of TCU's football team. They have been really good the past couple of seasons. But thats all I'm sayin.

Brady Quinn got punched in the face by Brown's defensive end Shaun Smith.
Come on Shaun thats your future franchise quarterback. Besides, there are so many unpleasant, ugly things in the world today, why try and disfigure something so beautiful.

The Boston Celtics finally lost a game!
It happened on Christmas day against the LA lakers ending their 19 game winning streak. Now I despise the Lakers but I'm getting a little sick of Boston...okay they're just down right annoying, so I have to say I was overall pleased. The way the Celtics have been playing this season, had a lot of us thinking they can't be beatin, but what do you say Kevin Garnett?? I guess "anythiiiingg isss posssibleeeee".

Shout out of the day!!: This one goes to the makers of the movie "Big Fish". I watched that movie for the first time last night and loved it!!!! It reminds me sooo much of my dad and all the stories he tells. If you haven't seen it, I suggest you do!! Have a blessed day! :)

lethargic

Alrighty. So I'm finally home with the fam. Over the past few days I have been disgustingly tired. Seriously, I haven't been this sluggish in a long long time. I am usually full of waay too much energy, and yet all I can do is crawl to my comfortbale...soft...plush...beckoning bed. (I might have to stop and take a nap.) Honestly, I think this semester has caught up with me alllll at once. I figure that while I'm home I'm going to be painfully bored, so I've decided to come up with a few goals to make the break more productive.

Goal 1: First things first I have to convince someone in my family that we should move back to our lovely home, Watkinsville, GA. My mother had the brilliant idea that we should move to Houston, TX way back in the day to be closer to her family. But shes lookin for a change in her life so I think I'll start with her first. I plan to relay the great days of old and the joyful intimacy a small town can bring to her. If that doesn't work, I'll move on to good ole dad. Me and pops are like best friends and he wants to be near is only daughter (not to mention get in-state tuition) so he might reconsider the move. Besides he was born and bred in wonderful Union Point, Georgia and he needs to be closer to his family.

Goal 2: Have peaceful, non-rushed quality time with the Lord. I want to listen to podcasts, dig into the word and take my time listening and praying to Him. Sometimes God calls us to be still, quiet, calm so we can just enjoy communing with Him and getting in line with His will. I want to make that my upmost priority these next couple weeks. I also want to be constantly mindful of the real reason we celebrate Christmas and how beautiful God's plan was for His son to be born on Earth. God has truly helped me to be sooo thankful this year for the many many blessings He has given me (all of which I do not deserve). I have everything to meet my needs and the rest are just gifts from Him.

Goal 3: Watch sports constantly. If you can't already tell, I kinda like athletics. I'm not one of those girls who likes to fake it to impress people or just get attention. I really have a passion for sports and I HATE it that school gets in the way of that. Ha! Instead of studying for Econ I should be watching the Texans beat the Titans. Wait a go Houston! Instead of reading about Crisis Communication for public relations I should be watching every men's Duke basketball game that comes on TV. So for the next, what? two and a half weeks or so? thats what I'm gonna do. Be a couch potato, watch sporting events and hopefully go to them!

Goal 4: I can't believe I'm saying this but...I might actually try to read a book. I have never been much of a reader. It always makes me really tired and I kinda feel like theres other things I can be doing. But I will admit I love love love! Anything written by Jane Austin and so I'm going to try to read one of her brilliant novels!!

Shout out of the day!!: Anyone who actually read this whole post without getting too agonizingly bored. Thanks to you for sticking with me because I felt kinda bored writing it. I'm not my cheery self today. I'm tired. And want to got back to sleep even though its 1 o'clock in the afternoon. Hasta Luego!

Helzberg Diamonds

So now that I've had a blog for all 4 days, I've realized that with a blog comes a small amount of pressure. What kind of voice will I have? Will I always be silly? Should I go deep sometimes? Do I write about what I think others want to hear?...So I'm thinking about this while I'm jogging today and I decide no, no to all of the above. I will have whatever kind of voice I want, talk about whatever I want and if people want to read it...fine. If they don't....fine. I have waaay to many thoughts in one day so I really like listing them off. So thats what I'm going to do today. Who knows what tommorrow will bring?

1. First things first, Sam Bradford won the most prestigious award in college football Saturday night. I have to say, I'm really happy for him. This is not because I'm a Sooner fan (by any means), but for one night we all got to see the kid in a pretty high profile college athlete. You could tell the guy was just so humbled and really blown away. Thats what I like to see. In a world where arrogance and pride is soo so prevelant, it was cool to witness a guy just a year older than me, win such a distingusihed award and realize the gravity of it all. So congratulations Sam. You're really need to play extremely well in the national championship to back up that award, and I hope you do.

2. Sean Avery was released from the Dallas Stars this week...Wow. Thats too bad for him. I can't say that he will be missed by a lot of players or fans and thats pretty sad to me. Maybe now you can finally go into the clothing industry for good! Ever since that segment on E:60 we are all aware of your flare for fashion.

3. There will be no Arena Football League in 2009. I repeat no AFL in 2009. I know, I was really suprised too. Apparently a bunch of teams said they wouldn't be back in o9 and so they decided to cancel the season until 2010. Strange...very strange.

4. I listened to the best sermon last night on itunes. It was by Andy Stanley and was called "The Best Question Ever Part 4: Time Bandits". I suggest if you have some free time over the break that you listen to it! It was really good!! And really relevant, because we all face issues with managing time. We instead fill it with things like Facebook and dare I say it?!...Blogging!

5. This commerical wierds me out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1YHrgIzGBdg

Shout out of the Day!: I'm going to give this one to my Lord and Savior. Again I am just astounded of how patient He is will me. He is so faithful and so good, even in the midst of me doubting He is. I'm am thankful to be loved by such a mercyful God! Also I want to give a shout out to whomever will be grading my Spanish final. May you too be merciful with my imperfections ;)

The Snuggie

Okay, as we all know, its cold outside. Today the temp only got up to the high 40's. So I'm sittin in my room this afternoon, attempting to study for my Econ final (not successfully might I add) and I get kinda chilly. I grab a blanket but the problem is its hard to read and take notes while trying to keep my blanket comfortably around my shoulders. Thats when I'm reminded of the "Snuggie". For those of you who have been fortunate enough to have seen this invention advertsed on TV, you know EXACTLY what I'm talking about. (I have only seen it advertised on ESPN, but then again ESPN is one of the few channels I ever watch.) As for the rest of you, you have missed out on one of the greatest pleasures in life...making fun of riduculous products and the people who actually buy them. Seriously, the "Snuggie" has crossed a new landmark in info-mercials. Let me try to explain....Nah! Please please click on this link and watch for yourself! Theres now wayyyy I can do it justice!! I especially like the old man in the recliner and the family at in the stands of a sporting event!!!

https://www.getsnuggie.com/flare/next?videoID=ai195&bufferTime=5.

Seriously people, this is obsurd!!bahhahahaa. Even though I was cold today and had nothing to keep my frail arms warm, I will never NEVER buy a snuggie. If I did I would lose all self respect and hit an all time lowest of lows. Do yourself a favor. Put on a sweater!! No matter how nippy the air might be, its not worth the public riducule you might recieve in this purchase.

Shout out of the day!!: Holly H!! one of my bestest pals!! Its a special day for her. Twenty years ago today she was born into this world! Now if thats not worthy of a shout out, I don't know what is.

Friday

Okay so I kinda like the list thing so I'm going to go with that. Things on my mind...

1. Guys...Just be yourself. What has sparked this thought? Well my lovely neighbors like to read Men's Health magazine. One of the articles discussed what a guy should do in order to attract a girl. Its advice goes basically as follows... "Research indicates that perceived dominance is expressed through 1.) using a loud voice, 2.) speaking a lot, 3.) making eye contact 4.) touching 5.) taking up lots of space, 6.) and successfully interuppting others". I have to say the first time I heard this I was in a complete state of shock, speechless! Or maybe I laughed hysterically for a good 10 min? I can't remember now, its been too long. If guys really follow these guidelines, may the good Lord help us all. Every girl is going to be interrupted, suffering from acute hearing loss and constantly squished and crowded. Apparently the writer of this article is single, and is looking to make every man share in his misery.

2. Unfortuantly, I had something really witty to write here but I can't remember it now so stay tuned, maybe I'll edit later

2 1/2. Graham...again, I'm sorry

3. I am amazed at the Lord's patience with me. He is teaching me SO much and has brought me so far. Each day that I wake up and my feet hit the ground, I have more than enough reason to praise Him. He has given me life, and another day to fufill His will. Hes not done with me yet, and thats cool to think about. Hes teaching me about faith, prayer and finding my security in Him in the midst of immense immense change. He is also showing me who He is. How can we believe and worship Him without knowing His true character? Thank you father. Continue to to teach me and may I give my faith and endurance a chance to grow (James 1:3)

Shout out for the Day!: John E on my Wydlife team. Not only did HE txt me this morning and tell me he was going to be a few minutes late going to the middle school (I'm always the late one) BUT in txting me he actually woke me up and patiently alotted me ten minutes to get ready. We made it to the school on time and everything was fine! So yay for Wydlife! and yay for John.

So I did It...

Okay so I did it. I got a blog. Basically it just because my roommate Courtney got one and I want to do everything that she does because I'm desperate to be like her in everyway.

I must say, I never ever ever dreamed that I would get a blog. I thought them terribly overrated and may I say a little nerdy?? Sorry I don't mean to offend anyone, but I probaby did because most people reading this (assuming anyone reads this) have a blog. So here I am. With a blog. Wanting to be like my roommate Courtney. Creepy. So I guess I'll start with a list of stuff thats been on my mind.

1. Arguably the most important. Graham Harrell didn't get an invite to be a finalist for the Heisman Trophy. I have nothing against the Heisman Trophy, and I will not have a lower opinion of this fine award after this weekend. No I am angry at the voters. The stupid coaches, writers and anaylistst that are so in love with schools like Florida, USC, Ohio State and Texas they can barely see straight. Graham Harrell deserved many a vote. Not only did he pass for 4, 747 yards this season BUT also had 71.5% completion percentage and an 11-1 record just like Tebow, McCoy and Bradford. I'm sorry Graham. I really am. You deserved to go, I hope you know that. (Disclaimer: I am not a bandwagon Tech fan. I have followed them for a good number of years now and my very own flesh and blood brother is a graduate of the University hehe)

2. I'm really really sick sick and tired of Terrell Owens. He is a cancer. And an attention hog. Why why why would Tony Romo be in conspiracy against him with TE Jason Witten. Get out T.O!! Please shut your mouth before you ruin another team. Please accept the fact that you are not going to touch the ball on every play. If thats what you really want, why didn't you be a QB? or even better, the Center? Sorry, I was maybe too harsh. But I'm not erasing it.

3. Who really cares if Derrick Rose sliced his arm cutting an apple in is bed. I don't. And I'm not going to judge whether he's telling the truth or not because its a good story and totally plausable.

Shout out for the day!!: Maggie P, my other roommate, who also started a blog today. Isn't that nice.
